The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. Sixteen women working in the construction industry founded it in 1953. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction.

The Boise Chapter was chartered March 18, 1978. A minimum of twenty-five members is required to charter a NAWIC chapter -- Boise charted with almost forty members! We are a strong and vibrant organization, and we pride ourselves in bringing value to our members, their employers, and our community through our community service projects, our monthly professional programs, our member education, and training opportunities, and our scholarship program.

With more than 115 chapters across the country, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) offers its members education, support, and networking to help advance their careers in construction, build their technical skills, and become leaders.

We are part of the Pacific Northwest Region, which includes Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Northern California, Northern Nevada, and Guam.
